SAN DIEGO, California, April 1, 2009. Myriax, Inc. today announced the commercial release of Eonfusion V1.2, its leading 4D software application for integration, exploration, analysis and visualization of time-varying geospatial data. The upgrade release is highlighted by new support for input and output data formats - including Google Earth's KML format - and a number of performance and usability improvements.
"I am excited by the advances in this new Eonfusion release and the speed with which we were able to execute. The quick turn-around on this cycle and the new customer-driven functionality that resulted show real momentum in Eonfusion development and are proof of our commitment to continuous improvement in our product and our customer service," noted Ross Dodd, CEO of Myriax.
In response to customer requests, Eonfusion now supports an expanded list of data formats which greatly increases the number and scope of applications for the product. Eonfusion now includes two Keyhole Markup Language (KML) writers for export of vector and raster data to Google Earth. Database access via ODBC and ODBC SQL data sources has also been added. Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL) support has been expanded with the inclusion of support for the OGR library for simple feature vector data types. OGR support also allows for flexible database and web data source access.
A number of performance enhancements have also been added in this release. These include spatial and temporal "bookmarks" which can be set in the scene view, allowing the user to return to a stored viewpoint and time in the scene. Flexible media mapping has also been improved and the process streamlined so that users can more quickly and easily map multiple video, audio or still image media onto a line.
Usability improvements in this new release of Eonfusion include new context sensitive tool tips which help guide users through their work, updates to the Eonfusion Time Slider which increase accuracy and discoverability and data file path generalization which enables the seamless sharing of dataflows between users.
For users studying coastal ecosystems, coastal inundation and related topics, the new Water Surface gadget provides predefined tools and methods for visualization of tide, flood or rising sea level data.
"This is just the beginning for Eonfusion," says Dodd. "More and more customers are adopting a 4D paradigm for their geospatial needs, and we are moving rapidly to provide them with the tools they need to succeed."
