Eonfusion V1.1 Released

January 6 2009

Myriax is pleased to announce that Eonfusion V1.1 has been released and is available free of charge to all current customers.  This new release includes significant advances in the areas of data fusion, analysis, visualization, data format support and documentation.  In addition, the new release addresses a substantial number of bug fixes as part of our ongoing commitment to the quality of Eonfusion.

New Data Fusion Features:

  • Intersect Vector Sets Operator.  This new operator extends vector fusion to provide intersected versions of input data sets. This solves the problem of fusing self-intersecting tracks (often encountered in terrestrial tracking applications), which is not handled by the Fuse Vector Sets operator.
  • Space Definition Support for the Fuse Vector Sets and Intersect Vector Sets operators.  This upgrade to existing operators allows the specification of a common space for the fusion operation, which enables Eonfusion to automatically select the relevant fusion attributes.
  • Unit Awareness in Fusion Operations.  The Fuse Vector Sets and Intersect Vector Sets operators are now unit-aware. The specification of units for the common fusion space enables Eonfusion to perform automatic unit conversion where necessary.

 New Analysis Features

  • Scale. A new Scale in Scene views has been added.  This new features provides users with visual references of size and distance in context of a three dimensional scene. Scales are moveable and resizable, and any number of Scale objects can be added to a Scene view.
  • Generalized Sliders in Scenes.  Sliders which only handled time in V1.0 have been modified to support any unit type. This allows the slider to be used to control the visible extents of any vertex attribute. The Usage setting in Scene Properties can be used to automatically map the required vertex attributes to the slider.
  • Link Connected Vertices Operator.  This new operator provides the ability to reference each vertex's neighbours by use of the Evaluate Expression operator. This enables a broad range of additional spatial analysis and interpolation functionality in the user coding environment.
  • Tag Lines Operator.  This new experimental operator provides a simpler version of vector fusion for line tagging - dramatically decreasing the time it takes to re-fuse tag data when new tags are published.
  • Data Structure View.  The Data Structure view has been enhanced so that you can easily see the items that are available for use in different contexts.

New Visualization Features:

  • Legends.  Data legends can now be displayed in Scenes. These provide a visual summary of the rule sets from a visualizer, allowing quick assessment of the relationship between visualizer properties (such as radius and color) and the underlying data values.
  • Raster DEM.  Visualizers can now be attached to 4D rasters to visualize them as a time series. This provides a very efficient means of visualizing time-varying surfaces.
  • Image Mapping for Surfaces.  The image mapping for Surface visualizers and Raster DEM visualizers now accepts 4D rasters to visualize them as mapped image time series. This enables visualization of time-varying imagery when the images are draped onto a surface.

New Data Format Support

  • Improved Raster Support.  New raster formats supported include: NetCDF, EHdr/BIL, VRT and SRTMHGT
  • LAS/LiDAR.  The new LAS data source (experimental) allows the reading of LiDAR data from LAS format.

Other New Features

  • Enhanced Mouse Support.  Keyboard modifiers are now available to alter the effect of the left mouse button so that it replicates the behavior of a mouse wheel.  While a three-button mouse with mouse wheel is still highly recommended, this new feature eliminates a barrier for users of laptop computers without an external mouse or desktop PC users without a three button mouse with track wheel.
  • User Manual Upgrades.  Significant updates to the user manual have been added.  These include an upgraded Introduction, major modifications to the Legends page, and over fifteen new pages that either describe new features or provide enhanced documentation of existing features.
  • Online Tutorials.  Video tutorials are now available online to get users up and productive on Eonfusion.  These videos can be referenced directly in the resources and support section of the Eonfusion website. http://eonfusion.myriax.com/resources_and_support

The Eonfusion team is committed to the continued development of a high quality, feature rich product.  Users are encouraged to submit their own feature requests or bugs through the User Forum or the contact form on the website.
