Changes to rasters in Eonfusion V2.0
As mentioned above, Eonfusion version 2.0 includes a major upgrade to the way that raster data is presented and treated. The benefits of the new raster treatment in version 2.0 are as follows:
- Raster vertex attributes are visible and their values can be exposed.
- Raster vertex attribute values can also be changed, allowing:
- Repositioning of rasters in all dimensions.
- Reprojection of rasters.
- Positioning of image rasters at heights other than zero.
- Treatment of raster data is now much more consistent across the data model, operators and visualizers.
- Treatment of raster data is now much more consistent with treatment of vector data:
- Their data structures are now the same.
- Metadata (Usage, Units, Projections, etc.) can now be applied to raster vertex attributes.
- Space definition tables can be used to auto-select raster vertex attributes.
- A choice of how the scene slider interacts with time series rasters. Either:
- Only the most recent 2D raster "slice" is shown, as in version 1.2, or
- All 2D raster slices within the time interval are shown.
Note that some time investment will be required to adapt existing raster-based dataflows to this new paradigm. However, be assured that we will support you in this work with useful documentation and the assistance of the Support team. You'll find that the benefits are many times greater than the small cost of transition!
