Streamline dataflow construction with Space Definitions
In the Tips & Tricks section of the April 2009 Newsletter, the importance of Metadata in Eonfusion was discussed, and how care should be taken to set metadata appropriately, especially on data sources or when new attributes are created or transferred.
In Eonfusion Version 2.0, the ability to specify a Space definition has been extended to the majority of dataflow objects. Specifying a space definition, along with setting the relevant Usage metadata, allows dataflow objects to auto-select likely attributes, and helps to build dataflows that are robust against changes to attribute names, streamlining the process of building your dataflow.
Space definition defines the space in which operations are carried out, including the unit types of attributes and the mapping of attributes to axes. Eonfusion makes automatic choices for space definition in many cases, or these can be set manually.
The following video steps through the construction of a section of the Getting started dataflows installed with Eonfusion to demonstrate how the concept of Space definition works in practice.
